Mortgage Rates October 14, 2013

Today is Columbus Day holiday and, even though the stock market is open, bond markets are closed for the day. Yes, the government shutdown is still in effect after a potential fix to the problem was offered by Senator Susan Collins over the weekend. Well, the bill didn’t go anywhere, not even past the Senate. So, we’re starting another week with no deal to open the government back up and no deal for the debt ceiling, both of which are sending stocks down. It just might turn out to be an interesting week for mortgage rates if this keeps up and stocks keep sliding.
